Canyon Lake Waterfront Real Estate

Have you been searching for a lakefront property in Central Texas? Not familiar with Canyon Lake? You aren’t alone, but that is rapidly changing as many of the quaint hill-country towns that surround it have evolved into bustling cities. I personally have very fond childhood memories of Canyon Lake having spent many summers at our family’s cabin near Turkey Cove, which is located on the south side of the lake. Today, as a waterfront real estate specialist, I field numerous inquiries about Canyon Lake each week, and am grateful to have the opportunity to introduce this hill-country gem to others. Canyon Lake is primarily known for its aqua blue waters, panoramic views, and the wide variety of water sports that are available. Below are a few facts regarding the lake:
One very common inquiry I receive regarding Canyon Lake involves its water level. While Canyon Lake is not a constant-level lake, it has not historically been impacted to the same extent as others in near proximity (namely Lake Travis and Medina Lake). At the height of the drought in 2011, with more than half of the ramps around the lake remaining open, it was business as usual. Another question I receive with some frequency is whether or not you have ability to improve your waterfront (boathouses, retaining walls, docks, etc). As of now, the Corp of Engineers does not allow for any waterfront improvements to be constructed at the shoreline. With proper permitting, you may be allowed to create natural stone steps to the water’s edge, or a nice patio area near the water to take in the views. Owners have several options for storing their personal watercrafts, which include dry storage at one of the many facilities around the lake, in one of the 3 marinas, or on their property. With the majority of homes for sale on Canyon Lake being easily accessible from the waterfront, you will find enjoying this lake a breeze. One of my favorite features of Canyon Lake are the natural beach-like areas that have formed in various locations around the lake. One of the more popular subdivisions around the lake is Canyon Lake Hills. It is on the south side of the lake within a 10-minute drive of Cranes Mill Marina, and it boasts some of the best of these beach-like areas you’ll find. You will also find yourself very close to some of the best Italian food around at Genarro’s. Those located on the north side of the lake in Mystic Shores, Canyon Lake Shores, or Kings Point have convenient access to the Canyon Lake Marina or the Yacht Club.
