Notably, the recreation and leisure scene on Canyon Lake is incredible. The lake is ripe with wonderful boating, sailing, water skiing, kayaking, fishing, parasailing, sailing, and surprisingly great scuba diving (thanks to incredible water clarity). 

Naturally, a Hill Country location also means plenty of peaceful countryside vibes. Spot plenty of natural wildlife around the lake (from white-tailed deer to foxes and roadrunners) and enjoy those famously vibrant Hill Country sunsets and sunrises. Oh, and did we mention the stargazing? The stars at night are indeed big and bright in the heart of Texas. 

By far, people love Canyon Lake for the lifestyle. Besides abundant recreational opportunities, residents espouse a different kind of culture: small-town charm. Note: Because it’s a Core of Engineers lake, you can’t put a boat house at your waterfront. Boats are stored in dry storage, marinas, and boat ramps; however, don’t let the fact that you can’t build your own personal dock deter you— accessing the lake and getting your boat on the water is still a breeze. Plus, the scenery is unmatch thanks to the beauty of these natural shorelines.

As far as schools go, students who live in Canyon Lake are zoned to attend Comal ISD schools, including Bill Brown, Mountain Valley, Rebecca Creek, and Startzville for elementary school, Mountain Valley or Smithson middle schools, and Canyon Lake High School (though a select few are a few are zoned to Smithson Valley High School).
