Lake Placid Texas Real Estate

View ListingsMore Info

A hidden gem nestled downriver of Lake McQueeney, Lake Placid is a slightly smaller, constant-level lake that packs a surprisingly big punch. Thanks to high boat navigability and a Hill Country location, Lake Placid offers its residents a luxuriously peaceful version of Texas lake life. Though all the typical leisure activities are widely enjoyed (fishing, boating, jet skiing, wakesurfing, wakeboarding, and swimming), Lake Placid residents also enjoy less boat traffic and more peaceful waters compared to other larger Texas lakes such as Lake LBJ and Lake Travis. Plus, prices tend to stay on the lower side (from around 400K to just over $1 million). The lake is about five miles in length, running from downtown McQueeney to up-and-coming downtown Seguin, and the popular town of New Braunfels is only about 20-30 minutes north.

More About Lake Placid Texas Real Estate

A constant-level lake located downriver of Lake Dunlap and Lake McQueeney, Lake Placid is technically the smallest of the three lakes ...though, you’d never guess it if you were out on the water. Head out on this lake and you’ll notice that “wide-open space” feel so many waterfront property owners crave.

Thanks to very few hazard areas, lighter boat traffic than other lakes, and largely natural shorelines, much of Lake Placid’s 250 acres are relatively calm. Anyone with waterfront property on Lake Placid can attest: these waters are a blue-green playground for boating, fishing, swimming, and (of course) jet skiing, water skiing, and wakeboarding.

Another huge perk of Lake Placid? That “Hill Country small town” feel. Lake Placid has a population of about 400 people, meaning the community is smaller, more peaceful, and more tight-knit compared to other larger Texas lakes such as Lake LBJ and Lake Austin

Many locals love the proximity to New Braunfels, as well as the up-and-coming downtown scene in Seguin: over the last several years, plenty of local breweries, eateries, and pieces of local culture have begun to flourish in downtown Seguin. Many end up “stopping by” downtown Seguin and falling in love with the charming town.

One of the biggest benefits of living on Lake Placid? A big bang for your buck. The price point for waterfront real estate on Lake Placid is typically $100-300k less for the same product that you would have on Lake Dunlap or Lake McQueeney. Buyers can usually spend less than $800-900k...although, values are rising, which means now is the time to buy if you’re looking to invest in a property. (Plus, there are less restrictions for vacation rental than any other lake in this area!) Also check out Meadow Lake Homes For Sale which are similarly priced to Lake Placid Homes. Want to build, then check out available Lake Placid Lots For Sale.

Curious about schools in the Lake Placid area? Students who live in Lake Placid real estate are zoned to attend Seguin ISD, a small district with a superb student-to-teacher ratio. Notably, the district was rated as "recognized" by the Texas Education Agency in 2009 and 2010. While exact school zoning may vary, students in this area will typically attend Rodriguez Elementary, McQueeney Elementary, A.J. Briesemeister Middle School, Jim Barnes Middle School, and Seguin High School. Most of Lake Placid is about a 5 minute drive to Texas Lutheran University (TLU).

Buyers curious about other Texas lakes might check out a few other lakes in the Highland chain—Lake LBJ, Lake Travis, Lake Austin, and Lake Marble Falls each offer something unique.
