Who should buy a waterfront property in Horseshoe Bay? Buyers who want true waterfront luxury, world-class amenities, and that feeling of being “in the middle of everything.” 

Located on the southern arm of Lake LBJ, Horseshoe Bay is an independent town that contains a resort, plenty of real estate, and all the best shopping, dining, and recreation in the area. Residents can relax in the peace and quiet of their condo or hop in the boat for a five-minute cruise to the bar or pool. Many residents can just amble outside for a short walk to these establishments. Because so many of the popular local attractions are within the community, residents only need to leave the area if they want a different type of recreation...and even then, it’s still relatively close. From Horseshoe Bay (at the southern end) to Kingsland (on the northern reach) is just a 45 minute leisurely boat ride. 

Due to the neighborhood’s positioning, popularity, and shoreline (almost 100% sea walls), the water traffic is high and the water can be a little rougher, making Horseshoe Bay an extremely popular spot for jet skiing, boating, and surfing. Plus, Lake LBJ is a constant-level lake, which means you can hop on the pontoon year-round.  

What about the resort? Because the award-winning Horseshoe Bay Resort is located within the community, this section of the lake has that “over-the-top feel” so many luxury buyers love. Golfers enjoy multiple award-winning courses, sparkling pools are within walking distance, and area restaurants and bars are constantly raising the bar. Also, due to the size and layout of Horseshoe Bay, it never feels like you’re dealing with a bunch of guests (the hotel is set off from the lake and a separate pool). 

No matter where you buy in Horseshoe Bay, luxury is the name of the game.  However, buyers looking to purchase property still have a wide variety of options, both in terms of size and pricing. Drive into the main gated area and past the resort to find acres upon acres of individual subdivisions and sub-sections of this popular area. Closer to the resort, you’ll find clusters of stunning mansions like The Peninsula selling for anywhere between $2.5 million upwards of $9 million. On Applehead Island, stately homes can be found somewhere between  $2 million and $8 million, whereas Blue Lake condos and homes are slightly more affordable (between $1 million and $8 million). Some smaller condos can also be found throughout for as low as $500k. Depending on the area, buyers also have the option to turn their vacation home into a short-term rental. 

Curious about other Lake LBJ properties for sale? If Horseshoe Bay’s resort-style feel isn’t doing it for you, we recommend checking out one of the other area neighborhoods. Sunrise Beach is a little less pricey than Horseshoe Bay, while Kingsland offers more of a countryside feel. On the other side of the lake, Highland Haven and Granite Shoals are a bit more traditional neighborhood.
