Steiner Ranch Homes For Sale
As its name suggests, Steiner Ranch was originally a family-owned, premier working cattle ranch just outside of Austin. This land was handed down through several generations, each privy to the land’s Lake Travis frontage and peaceful atmosphere. So, when the land was purchased by real estate developers in the 1980s, the vision for Steiner Ranch was born: a luxury neighborhood that retained the charm of its origins, valuing family, hard work, and (above all) the integrity of the Hill Country land.
Today, scattered across 4,600 acres of stunningly maintained land, Steiner Ranch (known as the “land Between the lakes”) has been thoughtfully and constructed. Residents enjoy sprawling acres of preserved wildlands (dubbed the “Steiner Ranch Preserve”) and the nearby Balcones Canyonland Preserve (a whopping 27,000 acres). Local adventurers looking to take advantage of that signature active Austin lifestyle can hop on over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails or take advantage of lazy days on the lake— swimming, boating, scuba diving, and more.
And Steiner Ranch’s homesites and architecture live up to its beautiful natural surroundings. Properties display a mixture of contemporary and traditional design with features that include lead-paned glass, french windows and brick exteriors, huge windows, and high ceilings. Floor plans range in size from 2,500 square feet to over 5,000 square feet, depending on the subdivision. Given this variety, home prices also vary widely: anywhere between $500k for some of the smaller subdivisions to over $2 Million in communities like The Grove, one of Steiner Ranch’s most exclusive home communities.
And, in case the natural amenities of Lake Austin and Lake Travis weren’t enough, Steiner Ranch has also created an inventory of neighborhood amenities that would make any luxury homebuyer swoon. The neighborhood is home to the University of Texas Golf Club (a championship course) and Lake Club on Lake Austin (all residents enjoy private membership). Residents can head down to one of the four swimming pools, multiple sports courts, lake access, premier workout facilities, and more.
And, when it comes to schools, Steiner Ranch is also a winner. Located in the highly acclaimed Leander Independent School District, students are zoned to attend Laura Welch Bush Elementary School or Steiner Ranch Elementary School, Canyon Ridge Middle School, and Vandegrift High School.
Though Steiner Ranch is a destination in and of itself, residents looking to head into town will not be disappointed: though Steiner Ranch feels like a countryside retreat, it’s actually quite close to the city. Located near the intersection of FM 2222 and RR 620, this community is just 25 minutes from the heart of Austin. More immediately nearby, popular shopping destinations and conveniences like HEB, Home Depot, Target, and a brand-new retail center and movie theaters are minutes away.
Buyers curious about other Texas lakes might check out other Highland lakes like Lake LBJ, Lake Marble Falls, and Lake Travis. Additional Central Texas options include Lake McQueeney, Lake Dunlap, Lake Placid, Meadow Lake, Canyon Lake, and Lake Seguin. In the meantime, don’t forget to sign up for Lake House Alerts!
