Which Canyon Lake Texas Boat Ramps Are Open?

Also, are there any Canyon Lake boat ramps open? These are the questions we get constantly know however rightfully so since Canyon Lake is currently at historic lows BUT there is still plenty of water and one boat ramps open as of October of 2024. The good news is that Comal County is extending 3 of the boat ramps while the lake is down and doing much needed work to another which means in the future, Canyon Lake will be much easier to access in future drought situations. First, let's discuss which boat ramp is currently open as of October 2024: Boat Ramp #18 - Closing Nov 1st, 2024Boat ramp 18 in Canyon Park reached its listed low water closure elevation of 883 feet on October 18th. Since that time, we have monitored daily ramp conditions and remaining concrete ramp area. Recognizing that this was the last open boat ramp, we left it accessible with a warning that it was use at your own risk and extreme caution advised.
As of October 30th, the lake level is at 882.42 and there is less than 14 feet of concrete ramp remaining with a severe drop off at the end. At this time, we have made the difficult decision to close the ramp completely effective November 1st, as we do not believe it will be safe to use for launching any watercraft. If the lake rises this fall/winter, we will absolutely consider re-opening the ramp for public use.
Canyon Park will also close as of November 1st. This is the normal end of the Park’s operating season.
Once opened the cost: if you vehicle is registered in Comal County, the cost is $5 per vehicle. If you vehicle is registered outside of Comal County it will run you $20/vehicle. Recently Closed: Canyon Lake Marina – Boat Ramp #19This is the second to last boat ramp on the lake to close. So, it will be one of the first ones to open when the lake levels return. When it does open here are some points to know:
Extending boat ramps 2, 7, & 8:As mentioned above, Comal County is extending 3 boat ramps which is great news for boat owners and lakefront residence as well. Details include:
In future drought situations this lake will be much easier to access due to these ramps being extended. As most people know, Canyon Lake is a non-constant level lake however what they don’t realize is that it is the most constant (in my opinion) of the area non-constant level lakes. Why is this? Canyon Lake has less commitments to sell water downstream than other area rivers. We were out on the lake earlier this year (2/20/24) and found several spots on Canyon Lake still over 100’ deep. Let’s compare the non-constant level lakes in Central Texas as of September 26th, 2024:

The General Publics Misunderstand Leads to Great Buying OpportunitiesIf you are in the market for a lake house, Canyon Lake real estate is a great option because most people are uninformed about the levels, access, and usability of this lake even in drought situations. There are more Canyon Lake Homes For Sale to pick from than there has been over the last few years. At times when the lake was full over the last few years, there were only 1-2 lake homes on the market. As of 9/26/2024 there are 23 lake houses for sale on Canyon Lake. This means there are more homes to pick from and sellers at times are more negotiable. You are seeing the same thing with boat dealers.
